5 Input Chip 3D

The 5 Input Chip 3D 150 µm is a glass microfluidic device designed on the layout described in papers by Jahn (2007) Microfluidic Directed Formation of Liposomes of Controlled Size (DOI: 10.1021/la070051a). The new 3D pore structure enables particle precipitation to occur in the bulk of the fluid avoiding particle-channel wall interaction. The chip is particularly suitable for the controllable formation of a central laminar focused stream sheathed between two or four lateral antisolvent streams. The design allows reproducible diffusive mixing at the two liquid interfaces for polymer particle nanoprecipitation and nanoliposome self-assembly.

Benefits:

  • Rapid generation of stable focused laminar stream in the middle of the outlet channel.
  • Possibility to control the thickness of the laminar focused stream by changing the flow rate ratio between the lateral fluids and the central sheathed fluid.
  • Ideal for producing nanoparticles (e.g. PLGA, liposomes) by antisolvent precipitation.
  • Circular microchannel profile at the junction for stable stream generation.
  • Generates highly monodisperse nanoparticles.
  • Hydrophilic, hydrophobic and fluorophilic versions
  • Quartz version for improved optical transmission.
  • Excellent chemical compatibility.
  • High visibility (excellent access for optics).
  • Compatible with Dolomite Linear Connectors for quick and reliable fluidic connection.
